Baltimore City, Maryland

“Charm City”
Baltimore City Map & Seal
The largest city in Maryland, and the 13th largest in the country, Baltimore has 45 miles of waterfront. It is strategically located in the Mid-Atlantic region of the East Coast and currently sits at the center of the nation's fourth largest and fastest-growing consumer market. Its economy is founded on a strong industrial and maritime tradition.

As a city that dates back to 1729, Baltimore's character has been shaped by its heritage. Once dubbed "the biggest small town in America" Baltimore's city of neighborhoods has an ethnic and economic diversity that is distinct.

World-renowned attractions abound near the Inner Harbor. The National Aquarium and Maryland Science Center serve as anchors at the tips of the semi-circle that arcs the Inner Harbor. The World Trade Center stands tall amidst the main downtown commerce center. A unique institution, the Maryland International Center, is located in the World Trade Center and provides international professional and intellectual exchange through visits, conferences, seminars, and internships.

Adding to Baltimore's ethnic flavor is the wide assortment of Italian restaurants that can be found a few blocks away in Little Italy. Vicarro's, known for its luscious desserts is just one of the many dining choices providing delight to lovers of Italian food.

Further outside the city are established neighborhoods with larger, greener landscapes, such as Homewood and Guilford, near Johns Hopkins University and the Baltimore Museum of Art.

Baltimore has more than 14,000 businesses, with more than 400 employing 100 or more workers. The Port of Baltimore is known throughout the world for its diversity. The port's modern marine terminals can accommodate any type of cargo efficiently and cost-effectively.

An active rail system links Baltimore with important destinations in the United States and Canada. And with the Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) nearby ,the area is primed for major growth and a strong economic future.

This is the heart of the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan Area.
